Adventuring In Colorado, How to Dress, How to Get There, and More!
Life in the mountains is different and we’ve learned a thing or two after nearly 40 years in business. What should we wear?
Layer, layers, layers! The weather in the mountains can be unpredictable and we want to make sure you’re prepared. Generally speaking, if you’re dressed for a day on the slopes, you’ll be ready for one of our adventures. Think underlayers, snow pants and coats, gloves, hats, warm, waterproof boots, and don’t forget face and eye protection—neck gators, scarves, goggles, or sunglasses!
It’s always better to have it and not need it than the other way around. But if you don’t have a few items, we’ve got you covered! We offered free snowsuit, boot, and helmet rentals for all tour participants.
Helmets are not required for dog sledding, but feel free to bring along any of your own that make you and your family feel more comfortable. If you’re snowmobiling, please keep in mind that helmets must be DOT approved—ski helmets can stay in the car.
We also have a curated retail selection of some of the essentials—hats, gloves, balaklavas, neck gators, sunglasses, goggles, lip balm, and yes, hand warmers! The front desk gets busy at check-in, so make sure to arrive early if you know you need to gear up. [image of retail selection]
Is there food onsite?
We do not offer any prepared food at the lodge, but we understand that sometimes a snack is in order! We have a small selection of snack bars, candy, beverages, and complimentary hot chocolate. It’s enough to get through an adventure, but please plan ahead and bring lunch or additional snacks if you’ll be spending a longer day with us.
How many dogs do you have and do we get to pet them?
With over 150 Siberian huskies—we are one of the largest dog yards outside of Alaska! And yes, you get to pet them. Our dogs are super friendly and love attention. That being said, they are working animals and your interaction will be
What do the dogs do in the summer?
Our pups love to run and need to exercise all year long. In the summer months, we open up the kennel and offer a unique opportunity for guests to meet the pups, see where they live, and join them on a training run. This is a hidden gem in Breckenridge that most people don’t know about, and you can LEARN MORE ABOUT DOG SLEDDING here.
