Summer Dogsledding in Breckenridge? Yes You Can.
Summer Dogsledding: Come Meet the Pack!
Did you know you can go dogsledding?
In Breckenridge?
In the SUMMER?
We’re letting you in on one of Breckenridge’s best-kept secrets: Summer Dogsledding.
While most people associate dogsledding with snowy trails and freezing temperatures, these summer tours offer an off-the-beaten-path, hands-on experience under the open sky in the Rocky Mountains — no snowsuit required.
At Good Times Adventures, our team of Siberian Huskies still gets to do what they love most during the warmer months: run, work together, explore the trails, and meet guests from all over the world.
If you’re searching for unique things to do in Breckenridge this summer, family-friendly outdoor adventures, alternatives to hiking, or a more unexpected way to experience Summit County, summer dogsledding deserves a spot on your list.
So… What IS Summer Dogsledding?

At Good Times Adventures, summer dogsledding combines a behind-the-scenes kennel experience with the chance to watch and interact with our working sled dogs during their offseason training and enrichment.
Guests can choose between two experiences:
Yard Tour (1 Hour)
Explore our kennel property, meet the dogs, learn how our operation works year-round, and get an inside look at life beyond the winter season.
Cart Tour (1.5 Hours)
Includes the full yard tour plus a guided cart ride through the Swan River Valley alongside our dog teams.
And yes — the dogs really do run in the summer.
During our Cart Tours, the dogs work together as a team while pulling specially designed wheeled carts with assistance from electric support systems that help create safe, controlled resistance along the route — especially on uphill sections. The experience allows the dogs to continue doing what they love most while staying active and engaged during the offseason.
Along the way, guides will explain how sled dog teams work, including why certain dogs run in specific positions and how each dog’s personality, confidence, and energy level can influence their role on the team.
Tours also include short breaks along the route where the dogs can cool off, splash in nearby streams, grab a quick drink of water, and soak up some well-earned attention from guests.
Thanks to Breckenridge’s cooler mountain climate and carefully monitored tour conditions, summer training and enrichment can continue safely throughout the warmer months.
And yes — there will almost definitely be plenty of photo opportunities along the way.

A Different Way to Explore Breckenridge
There’s no shortage of outdoor activities in Summit County during the summer. But if you’re looking for something beyond another hike or brewery stop, summer dogsledding offers a completely different perspective.
This isn’t a crowded attraction or a quick photo-op.
It’s a chance to:
- meet over 100 working Siberian Huskies
- learn how sled dog teams train and live year-round
- hear the dogs bark and howl with excitement before a run
- explore our four-acre kennel property
- enjoy mountain views in the Swan River Valley
- connect with the people (and dogs) behind one of Breckenridge’s most unique summer experiences
Along the way, guests also get a sneak peek at winter operations, including a small demonstration area with sleds set up in the yard to help show how traditional dogsledding works once the snow arrives.
For many guests, it ends up becoming one of the most memorable parts of their trip — and for some, the reason they come back in the winter to experience dogsledding on snow.
Great for Families, Kids, and Curious Travelers
Summer dogsledding is especially popular with families looking for activities that are interactive, outdoorsy, and a little unexpected.
Children ages 5 and older are welcome, and tours are intentionally kept small and personal. Each tour time accommodates up to six guests, which helps create a relaxed, conversational, and hands-on experience.
Smaller groups may be paired together, while private experiences can also be arranged by reserving all available seats for a specific tour time.
Reservations are required and can easily be made online in advance.
Whether you’re visiting Breckenridge for a long weekend or planning a full Rocky Mountain vacation, this is one of those experiences people tend to talk about long after they head home.

Dogs Still Love Running in the Summer
One of the things guests are often most surprised to learn is how much sled dogs genuinely love to run.
Siberian Huskies are working dogs by nature. Running as a team provides physical exercise, mental stimulation, routine, and excitement — even during the offseason.
Summer training and enrichment help keep the dogs active, engaged, and ready for winter, while also giving guests a chance to experience a side of sled dog culture that many people never get to see.
Every dog has a unique personality, too. Some are all business once they’re harnessed up. Others are social butterflies who want extra attention from every guest who walks through the gate.
That connection is part of what makes the experience so memorable.
And if you happen to fall in love with one of our pups — it’s hard not to! — be sure to ask about our Retired Sled Dog Adoption Program, which helps connect retired members of our team with their next forever homes.

One of Breckenridge’s Most Unique Summer Activities
If your idea of the perfect Rocky Mountain vacation includes trying something new, getting outside, and making memories you’ll actually talk about after the trip is over, summer dogsledding might be exactly what you’re looking for.
Because let’s be honest:
Most people go their entire lives without realizing you can dogsled in the summer.
And that’s part of the magic.
